Hi Everyone! How are you? Jen and I had a very exciting day that we thought we would share with you! We found out that Ashton Kutcher was filming a moving in Nice (the next town over) after seeing a picture of him on people.com. We did some research and discovered that he was filming a movie called Five Killers and would be in the south of France until early April. We also learned that some of the movie would be filmed right here in Antibes- we were thrilled! Em did some digging on the internet and found the director of the movie, Rob Luketic, on twitter. If you don’t know what twitter is, it’s a newer form of facebook where people update their status which we are addicted to! Both Ashton Kuther and Demi Moore also use twitter. All three update their twitter pages regularly. Early Tuesday morning Rob posted a twitter with a picture saying that filming was beginning for the day in a cemetery. We got really excited because we knew there was only one cemetery in Nice (we had actually just been there with Mom and Jul!) and recognized it immediately from the picture!
As soon as class was over, we took the bus to Nice and headed straight for the cemetery. Right away we saw catering set up, crew members, tons of trucks, production and people setting up a car scene in the cemetery. We were the only fans on the set since the cemetery is located away from the main town and can be difficult to find. We also don’t think many French people have twitter which was the only way to figure out the filming location! We waited around for a few minutes and before we knew it Demi Moore and her daughter Scout, walked right by us to get into a car from the cemetery. We were so socked we didn’t say anything, just snapped a quick picture! We waited around a little bit longer before learning that production was being paused for lunch. We walked around and before we knew it we were at Ashton’s trailer and the main catering tent!
We decided to sit and wait for a few more minutes before heading back to Antibes. Just as we were about to leave, Em happened to look over and spotted Ashton and a few of the directors walking by to his trailer! He was dressed and ready for his scene. We were so excited we quickly walked after him and asked him for a picture. He was the nicest guy, responding “of course,” and asking us where we were from after hearing our accents. He said he had a lot of friends from Altoona! We took individual pictures and then Rob offered to take a picture of the both of us with him. Ashton said we could just duplicate one picture of us and him instead of taking two pictures! Haha! He was extremely nice and good looking! We were so happy that he stopped to take a picture especially after hearing from a man on set said it is highly unlikely that most actors would ever stop for a picture! The man said Ashton was one of the nicest actors he had ever worked with and it was rare for such a popular actor to be so nice and down to earth while filming.
We walked back to the set and filming started immediately. We were able to see Ashton and an actor named Martin Mull film a car scene. In the scene Ashton walks up to Martin Mull who hands him a gun and tells him to shoot a man who is tied up in the trunk of the car. Ashton tries to but says he can’t and walks away. Martin Mull ends up shooting him three times and then walking away himself. We couldn’t believe how long it took to film such a short piece of the movie, they did about five takes during the time we were there. After the fifth take Demi and Scout walked up to where we were standing and I took out my camera to get a picture with Demi. We were told earlier that if we took a picture of the scene we would be kicked out. As soon as I reached for my camera a police officer and two directors immediately asked us to leave and escorted us away from the movie set! Even though we were warned this would happen we didn’t think they were serious since we were not trying to take a picture of the movie scene! We also just got word that Katherine Heigl just arrived to film some scenes starting Thursday so we might just have to stop by again!!! Overall it was a very exciting day and we were so happy to have met Ashton! One man did tell us that they were filming in Antibes so we are going to keep our eyes open! Hope all is well you guys, we miss you like crazy! Only 39 days left! Miss you and love you!
Love, Em and Jen

** Sorry the pictures are so far away, there were police and directors everywhere who made sure no one took any pictures, I was able to sneak a few when they were not looking but eventually got noticed and asked to leave!
